James THOMPSON (born Liverpool in 1860)

James Report 22 Sep 2012 08:40

I am trying to locate any descendants of the above. James was my Great Grandfather. He was the son of James THOMPSON, Flatman (born circa 1820) and Jane LEATHER, nee FAZAKERLEY, formerly HOOTON.

My Great Grandfather lived in the Everton district of Liverpool. He was apprenticed as a Farrier and to the best of my knowledge, he remained in that profession all his working life.

He married Elizabeth BARTON in Liverpool in 1884 and they raised four children: George (1884-1946), Jane ('Jinny') 1886-1969, Sarah (1890-1939) and Ann (1894-1991).

My Great Grandmother Elizabeth, nee BARTON died in 1916 and James re-married in Liverpool in 1917. He married Elizabeth PITT, nee TILNEY, formerly, HARRISON.

Unconfirmed information suggests that James and Elizabeth moved to the Halton area of Cheshire, but I have no records of either post 1917. I am trying to discover James' year of death and last abode.

I would welcome contact from any of James' descendants.

Regards,

James (Jim) Thompson

The best way to make contact with any of his descendants is for you to go and look for them by seeing if anyone on here has any of the family that you know about in their trees.
Unfortunately James Thompson is rather a popular name.

Added:
Halton is Runcorn area, for helpers like me who had to look it up.

Hi ther Jim - the chances of any descendants seeing your posting are remote - you have to look for them - firstly you should look in "Search" top right hand corner of this page to see if there are any connections on this site - if you strike lucky and find a match you can contact the tree owner

Also, make a posting on "Find Living Relatives" - that might prove fruitful

There is this death in Runcorn, did he want to make himself appear older than his thrice married wife, and lied to her?

Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1929

Added:
If this is Elizabeth Tilney's birth, then if she claimed he was born in 1864 on the death certificate she is still older than him.
Also, 3 people on here have her in their trees(one of whom appears to be a Harrison).

Thanks to everyone who has responded. I have studied a number of James THOMPSONS over the last few years and I have communicated with several tree owners bearing this ancestors name, all without success. I enquired re the Death Entry in 1929 but sadly, there is no connection there either!

I corresponded last year with a distant descendant of Elizabeth TILNEY (HARRISON) but nothing was known of her latter years.

I have the above data on the PITTS..thank you also for sharing this with me.
