Hello Valerie, was Dunn her married or maiden name?
What census have you found her on?
Quite likely left Ireland to escape poverty and the Great Famine.

Is this Mary and Robert? Please delete your other thread about Robert and keep everything on this one. It will be much easier for everyone.

I once read that the Irish emigrated to find a better life, the poorer ones ended up in England/ Scotland but the ones with a bit of money made it across to US.

If that is the marriage that Mike has posted, you will be able to view it on Scotlandspeople. It is a site that needs credits bought to view the certificates, but the MC should name the parents and where they were married.

Valerie, As the Scottish marriage took place in 1852 (pre 1855 statutory) the details are entered on the OPR It is highly unlikely that either parents will be named.

Valerie...You would need to be checking the RC reg.on Scotlands People for the marriage...
All their children were baptised at St.Michaels Houghton Le Spring or The Sacred Heart and English Martyrs Thornley
|
|
Valerie...The 2nd wife of Robert (Marriage Reg Dec 1878) was to Mary Ellen Coyle nee Chanlon/Chandley (variations)... Francis Joseph was Baptised at Our Lady Immaculate..Washington ..subsequent children at various RC Churches in the area..Rosa (1886) was at Our Blessed Lady...Broom....
I would be looking to see if there are any details of the Death Burial of Mary Dunne in the Reg at The Sacred Heart if they had one then....
I would also chceck SP 1851 census for any Dunne family in the area where Robert was living at the time...
