	Almost certain to be illegitimate I'm afraid. It was very common for those born illegitimate to "Invent" a father when getting married. Presumably doing so to avoid the stigma of being born out of wedlock which was viewed very differently by society back then.
	Researching: Don't put off until tomorrow doing what you can do today. If you like doing it today you can do it again tomorrow. Be kind to your children for it is they who will decide which care home you end up in.

Member Since: July 2012 Posts: 72 Send Message	husband's grandmother,b1881 has no father's name on birth cert. Mother is servant. Assume illegitimate or could there be another reason? Father's name(surname is same as on baby's birth cert) is on gran's marriage cert 20 yrs later Help! Sandra
