The informant on his death cert was Francis Baxter which presumably was his son (my 3 x great grandfather).

Unfortunately I think I'm at the point in my research where all my brick walls are difficult, if not impossible, to solve. I think this is one of those brick walls. I might have to give up on this one.

William born 1805 died 1827. Both in Bircham Newton.
John born 1807 died in 1814. Both in Bircham Newton.
Francis (my 3 x great grandfather) born in 1810 in Bircham Newton died in 1896 in Bishopwearmouth, Durham
Robert born 1812 died 1891, both in Bircham Newton. He lived there all his life.
Elizabeth born 1817 died 1834 both in Bircham Newton.
then Michael and Sophia born 1821 but then went missing.

I don't know if this will help.

A great way to find alternative and similar versions of surnames is to input the name you want on FreeBMD then tick the Phonetic search surnames box. Sometimes the alternatives make sense and sometimes they don't but definitely a useful tool.Jill

there is a tree on An****ry but it doesnt have any census attached. :-(

there is a lot of information on the childrens siblings though

Well actually I can't find John on the 1841 census either. I have a candidate but I can't really know it's him. I know he died in 1843 though.

After 1821 my 4 x great grandmother Mildred Baxter and her last two children Michael and Sophia just disappeared.

Mildred Baxter was born Mildred Rayner in Bircham Newton, Norfolk in 1787. She married John Baxter in Bircham Newton in 1803. On the parish register her first name was spelt Mildrya for her marriage and the baptisms of her first few children. For subsequent baptisms her name was Milli and then Mildred. Her last two children were twins Michael and Sophia born in Bircham Newton in 1821.

Then they all disappeared. There were no further references to them in the Bircham Newton parish register. I can't find them on freeREG, familysearch or any of the censuses. Mildred is missing from freeBMD too. Mildred's husband John Baxter died in Bircham Newton in 1843.

Does anyone have any ideas? Many of you are better than me at applying some lateral thinking when it comes to the spelling of names so maybe that might help.

I'd appreciate any help.
