Can anyone help please.
I have been trying to find maggie/margaret cooney on the 1871 census but have had no luck.
She was born at Prescot Lancs c1865'
I think she may have had a sister Ellen born c1853.
Any info will be most welcome.

Thank you for looking but census records I have found say they wer born at \prescot.
Whether this is true or not I don't know.
Maggie married John Ashurst in 1886 at Wigan.

Cyril - always keep an open mind with info on birthplaces, etc. on census

It's possible that the enumerator on the 1871 that I posted simply copied the mother's birthplace for all of the children.

What info does it give on Maggie's marriage cert re: her father? Who were the witnesses?

(Must admit, I'm struggling to find that marriage)

Thanks safc for putting the marriage on, I didn't think to do it.
i checked Lancs Bmds and found a birth for Margaret Coney at Prescot 1865.
Maybe Marie was right and the enumerator mixed things up.
