Mark - when was Robert snr born? Just so we can get the full picture and know when to start looking.

What was Betsey Ann's maiden name, and her parents names?

Just so we know they were both still alive in 1940:

1940 United States Federal Census
Name: Betsy Hannible
Age: 68
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1872
Gender: Female
Race: White
Birthplace: Massachusetts
Marital Status: Married
Relation to Head of House: Wife
Home in 1940: Salem, Essex, Massachusetts
View Map
Street: Highland Avenue
House Number: 75
Inferred Residence in 1935: Salem, Essex, Massachusetts
Residence in 1935: Same House
Sheet Number: 1A
Neighbors: View others on page

Household Members:
Name Age
Robert Hannible 75
Betsy Hannible 68

Their name is spelled that way on a few census and Betsey's birth year is normally shown closer to this than 1864.

That's great MarieCeleste - new info......

That's the last directory I can see her on, Mark.

Struggling for a death but, as you may know, US deaths aren't nationally indexed like ours they're recorded by state/county and all cover different timespans.

MC - since when have your deaths been nationally indexed - what nation are you talking abt, since it's obviously not the UK, where they're done by country?

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 17 Sep 2012 12:23

Actually mgnv, the UK isn't by individual country because England and Wales (two separate countries) are on one register.

I think you're splitting hairs!

Mark - you should have mentioned you had an existing thread (or preferably added to that one) http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1307874?page=0

MC - am I really splitting hairs abt England & Wales? The fact remains that UK deaths are found in 4 repositaries, namely Southport, Edinburgh, Belfast and Roscommon (even if I would only need to check 3 of them if I knew the exact year of an arbitrary UK death).
