Looking at the census records, it looks like Richard ended up in Scotland

Have you checked ScotlandsPeople for the death of his father?

I have already seen the rootschat snd I have tried familysearch.org, but it doesn't seem good for irish catholic records. The more I find about thomas or his family the more questions I get

Do a quick google search to see if that brings anything up. I just did one and found someone has posted on the Rootschat forum about Thomas Parkinson and they have found a couple of directory entries for him

Anyone have any information regarding Thomas Parkinson who was a Doctor in Glin, CO Limerick during 1840's. I believe he was born between 1800 - 1820. There is no trace of where he went after 1840's so may have died during this time, which i suspect as his son Richard (B.1840)became a Tailor and was illiterate. Thomas was married to a agnes/Bridget Fitzmaurice(possibly in Co Kerry).

Any info on thomas or his family would be welcome.
Thanks,
George
