I have been trying to find the marriage of George Barnsley to Ann around 1800. It ought to have been in the Sheffield, West Riding or North Derbyshire area. Records of the birth of 3 children George who died, Charles my 2x ggrandfather and George are recorded in St Peter's Sheffield Baptismal records between 1800-1810 . He was a cutler as were generations of Barnsleys from the Sheffield area from the 1500s onwards. The two surviving sons started the firm of George Barnsley and Sons which was world famous for making tools for leather workers

I have looked on all the obvious on line sites, have been through all the parish registers for Sheffield and North Derbyshire and South Yorkshire available in Sheffield archives and paid a professional F.H. researcher to check these and to try to find George and Ann. The Barnsley family were cutlers back to the beginning of the formation of the Hallamshire Cutlers' Company when they helped to found it and a George Barnsley was Master CUtler in 1650. Without this marriage I can't track back with any certainty. The marriage is likely to be in the S. Yorkshire area. There is one in London but I am certain that isn't my pair.

Thank you for your efforts Anne. I have found all of these. Charles is my 2x great grandfather and George his brother. I have also found the births in 1880s but no means of knowing whether they are my 3x great grandfathers. Neither really fits other known information. Thanks again
