thanks for the vote of confidence.
just looked at the image . daughter of the family & her husband & baby living there too.
Daughter mistranscribed as being 82. Image quite clearly says 28.
Such fun isn´t it? ;-) ;-)

Not thick at all, in a rational world it would work ... !!

Possibly my fault because I put the address in the address box..........well it seemed logical.
Being a bit thick, didn´t think of the keyword box. Will remember that in future.

Good luck Marion.
Still not getting why the name requirement though - I have searched for loads of things on ancestry using just the keyword box and nothing else!

Thank you Jan.
As I said, I had tried 1911 on Ancestry but it was asking for a name as well.Probably as you say, it was the spelling of Gaythorne although my grandmother has spelled it without the e in her prayerbook.
I know she was there in 1916 because I have an address book of hers which was a present from one of her brothers in that year.
I will see if I can find the electoral register or street directory & hope that the same family are still there.

You need to put Gaythorne (with an e) I have discovered!

1911 ancestry doesn't need a name for 1911 or 1881. Just put address into keyword box.

Thank you all for your replies.
I know my grandmother was there & that she was too young to vote.
It´s the name of the family she was living with that I´m trying to find.
Looked at the 1911 census on Ancestry under the address, but it requires a name, which of course is what I´m looking for.

There may be other sites which allow the search by address in 1911. It may offer a name if the same family were there 11 years earlier. -jl

If she was only working there, she probably wasn't registered to vote......but you should be able to find out who was.............

As has been stated........contact the library for the area.......

Good luck

Just a reminder - only men over 21 and women over 30 will be shown on the electoral register at that time, so don't concern yourself if she isn't listed (assuming she was under 30 when she married!).

If you contact the library local to that address, they may be able to look it up for you on an electoral roll ?

Trying to find out who was living at 96 Gaythorn Road Bradford around 1920-22.
My grandmother gave it as her address when she married in 1922. I know it wasn´t her family because she had been in an orphanage until about 1916. Pretty sure she was working there as a housekeeper.
Have tried phone books, directories etc but without a name it´s impossible.
Please can anyone help?.
