Can anyone help in identifying any organisation like GU in Germany as about 1850 England was graced with the arrival of a Huber. Have drawn a blank on shipping records and believe origin was Black Forest area. Am currently scrabbling in the dark!

I have German grandfather born c1870 and the family came over between 1882 when a son was born in Germany and 1889 when the youngest son was born in Bradford,

I enquired at Kew re shipping records and was told no passenger records would have been kept as they came from Europe on what was just cross Channel crossings.

You would need to know were in Germany they came from as their records would be held locally. Its also possible that records may not have survived WW2 bombings.

It would mean going to the area and searching .

Hello Denis - welcome to the boards

not quite understanding your posting - is Huber a surname? If so, there are stacks of Huber's on the census in the UK going back to the 1700s
