He has been described, in some records, as 'widower' and I surmise that Thomas jnr and William are from the previous marriage. I can find no details at all of his life before marriage to Charlotte. Help, please!

No, the 1841 census doesn't quote Charlotte as wife but I have other info., eg IGI, which marries her to Thomas.
Charlotte/Moss connection? I'm not convinced.
