Hi All,

Looking for some information on the ancestors of Mary Ann Young and Richard Lucas (my 3xgreat grandparents). I know that she was born in Rotherhithe c1811 . I believe that the baptism from 1813 belongs to her although I haven't managed to prove it. The parents in that baptism are Thomas Young and Matilda Arnold Ruse. Mary had a daughter called Matilda (my 2x great grandmother) so this seems particularly likely. Mary married Richard Lucas on 23 Nov 1834 in St James. Bermondsey.

Richard Lucas was a sailmaker born c1811 in Rotherhithe or St John Horsleydowns, whose father was also Richard Lucas. I believe his is the baptism from May 1811 and that his parents were possibly Richard Lucas and Elizabeth Gummer (who married 1808 at St Marylebone). If anyone could help me confirm births for Mary Ann and Richard, it would be much appreciated.

Richard and Mary Ann had a daughter called Emma and I can't trace her beyond the 1881 census. She married Benjamin Boyer in 1873. Can anyone help with that?

Thanks
- Lucia

Wow. Thank you. That leads me to some clues. I guess that means they did not have any children, and it brings me closer to finding a record of a death for Emma Lucas.

I do not have a baptism for Emma Lucas. The only Lucas children I have christening details for are Richard George(1835) and Elizabeth Mary Ann (1837) - thanks to help on here. Their other children were Emma (c.1842), Sarah (c.1844), Matilda (1846), William (1847), John (1847), George (1850) and Mary (1859). All the children were born in Bermondsey or Rotherhithe.

Richard died at Rolt Street, Deptford on 18 Jul 1882. I don't know when Mary Ann died. How can I find out where Richard was buried?
