Find Ancestors

Hi there
I have not done this before, but was looking for some help on how to confirm my grandads, mothers maiden name.
So far I have been left with the 2 entries, both of which could be possibilities as the register shows my grandad George H Harris (who was definitely born 7th September 1924,) both were registered in Oct/Nov/Dec 1924, one shows the mothers maiden name of Greenfield and the other of Boyer.
Could anyone tell me how to work out which is correct please? both names can also be traced to the Hartshill area :-S

Do you know his father's name ? (your Gt Grandad)

it should be on his marriage certificate if he married

You could try contacting the registry offic/GRO telling them his actual date of birth and which one corresponds to that one then you'll know which one to get.

Do you know if your Grandfather had any siblings please?

I thought John T may have been a brother, named after his father, hadn't realised that he had died though, maybe this might shed some light??
Think I will try as Sarah suggested in asking if GRO will confirm which is the correct entry.
This is fascinating, yet so frustrating

Do you have your grandfather's marriage certificate at all? might shed some light on his father at least which might help plus any witness names.
