Find Ancestors

I wonder if anyone can find the death of this person. I have looked in Scotlands People, Genes, Ancestry and freebmd.

He was my 2nd great grandfather and married Marion Edwards in Shropshire in 1843.

He was living in Edinburgh in the 1851 and 61 census and then nothing. His wife is in the 1871 living with children in Edinburgh.

I know Scotlands People is pay per view but has he died elsewhere in the world?

Have you tried his name on a google search?...

(seems to be a couple of articles?)

I searched SP using a wild card and got one match for a Catholic death/burrial

Chris, yes I have Googled but no death date .

Gins, well that could well be him but didn't know he was Catholic. Fits the dates where he disappears though.

I have gone onto Scotlands people, into Catholic deaths put in every variation of James Smith Torrop including your James S Tor for the same dates and no hits. Where am I going wrong?

I just went to the free starter search facility so I cant view the actual record

Did you use the * after the Tor
