How have you come by this name in the first place? If you give a bit more idea of the nature of your search we might be able to help a bit more.
The obvious suggestion is Desdemona I suppose! But it might be a pet name or a middle name.

Moira, if you give the details that you have got for this child e.g.
surname, approx year of birth, parents names, where they lived.
Someone may be able to help.

I wonder though if it could be Desdemona? Or does this name have Scottish roots?

Anyone else have any ideas?

It's the name of my in-laws dads, Aunt. Mona Beighton I have found a marriage for her in 1936 to a Harry Gill Sheffield. She is the daughter of Maria Madeley and Albert Edward Beighton, they had Albert Edward b 1908 out of wedlock although he did take his fathers name when they married in 1913, they had a son Eric b.1922 and I have found a Susie H b 1914 all in Sheffield, I am wondering if Susie H, is really Mona

The index does say Susie M not H so Mona S looks like it could be her

Just googled both names and there was a Susie M Gill listed on 192.com from 2002-09 living in Sheffield
