I notice on the 1861 census you just sent me that the daughter born in 1846 shown on the 1851 census was Selina is now in the 1861 census called Eleanor????

Thanks for info......Ann Wooton must be the right Ann as on the 1841 census posted by Alviegal shows the Westacott's living with the Wooton's but Ann's not listed. But we know shes alive because she's in the 1851 Census.
Although I've just noticed those Wootons were mostly born in Glos & yet on the 1851 census Ann was born in George Nymphton.
Confused!!

Looked it up - a Bright Smith is one which works with bright metals...ie copper, tin & brass etc!
I have a cencus from 1841 which just states that Thomas is not born in Bristol, but he's 30, there is no Ann, and the children are Ann 1832, Elizabeth 1834, Eliza 1835, John 1835 and Harriet 1840. Thats odd that there is a Elizabeth and Eliza....and where is there mother?

Please can anyone help me move backwards on my Westacott line? My GG Grandparents were John Westacott b 1836 Temple and Ann Walker b 1839 St James (Both Bristol). They had the following children John, Thomas, Annie, Henry, James, Louisa & Alice. John & Ann were married on 23/1/1860 at St Matthias in Bristol and John's father was listed as Thomas Westacott. I have found a Thomas Westacott (and Ann) in the 1841 Census living at Berkeley Court Bristol with children including a John b1835. Cant find them in 1851. In 1861 they give their birth place as Devon but I'm not sure if I have the right family. There are many variations to the name which doesnt help and as the records at Bristol Rec Office from the parish of Temple were destroyed during WWII its hard to verify stuff. Would be very grateful for any advice/help
