Hi All,
I am trying to trace a gr x3 grandmother Martha ? . She married a John Gregory about 1816. They then settled at Catherington and Denmead, Hampshire. The only marriages I have found that would fit in are on 10th June 1816 Paulton, Somerset and 18th June Pilton, Somerset with Martha BAMPFIELD as the bride on both occasions. The 1851 censes gives her place of birth as Dorset UnKnown. I find the name Bampfield is common to Deveon and Somerset. Can anyone find her place of birth and parents please. And any more details would be appreciated.
Regards,
pam :-D

I'd say those two marriages are the same couple, perhaps banns in one of their parishes and the marriage in the other (or maybe they did it twice?)

Yeaph.........it does seem a bit strange................ I still need to get to the bottom of who she was :-)) with only Dorset as a starting place for her it's not easy to trace the rest of the ir journey to Catherington.

Thanks Safc....but i'm beginning to wonder if this is my John and Martha Gregory. Usually the parents start to name their children after their parents but none of these names, Charles and Ann or Benjamin are used.

Pam
