Thanks for the response. I have a distant memory in the back of my mind that there was supposedly an obituary in I believe the Manchester Evening News that would have been around 1951/2 but I've not been able to find anything. This is why it was stated as deceased on the marriage certificate. I know that his father, Anthony married Delia Quirk and that Delia passed away in 1947. Anthony passed away in 1926.

Yes, Jonesy, just noticed that. The tree owner appears to be a descendant of William and, I suspect, has the death certificate. Whether he knows anything about William's earlier life I have no idea, but nothing is mentioned apart from his date (13 Oct 1900) and place of birth (Broughton) It also mentions his parents and grandparents.

Alviegal,
I agree that it would be worth the OP contacting the tree owner but if that is his death it looks like he acquired a second forename after his birth registration.

There is a tree on ancestry that says he died of a coronary thrombosis, 21 Feb 1952 in Ramsgate, Kent. It also has him marrying an Elizabeth Louisa Knight born 1923 in Camberwell, London and died 1983 in Ramsgate, Kent.
Would be worth getting in touch with the tree owner as this suggests a second possible partner as there are no marriage records indicated.

The fact that he is stated as deceased on a marriage certificate in 1952 is no guarantee that he was. In fact if he had left his family in the late 1920's then it is quite possible that they did not know whether he was alive or dead in 1952.
His birth is likely to be one of these two, most probably the former as there is a William Ernest Hunt born in Salford showing on the 1911 census:
Births Dec 1900 Hunt William Salford 8d 86 Hunt William Ernest Salford 8d 38

Hi all Have been with genes for some years but never actually used the threads but now getting desperate as most of the ancestors have now unfortunately passed away. I'm hoping someone can help me with this but it is a longshot. I'm looking for any info on William Hunt (my grandfather), born c1900 to Anthony and Delia. I have him as a child on the 1911 census and know that he married Annie Fulton 05/08/1925. They had 3 children, one being my dad. Unfortunately due to problems within the family he left home possibly after 1928. This all takes place in Salford. I know he died before 1952 as he is deceased on my parents marriage certificate. All help gratefully received Desperado
