Gilham Report 6 Sep 2012 03:51

Looking for some directional help with the parents of William Gilham. What I know is he was Bap in 1789. Married Sarah Bourner in 1811. Had a bunch of kids in the Lydden area including George, James, Benjamin and Frederick.
The sticky part is there are three Williams in the Kent area about the same timeframe all with parents Stephen and Elizabeth. Seems one Stephen, bap 1745, parents Stephen and Elizabeth Austen (Bilsington) are close but so is a Stephen born abt 1757 to a George and Catherine (Canterbury).
If anyone has come across this, some help would be appreciated.

Ladies,
You are simply amazing! You have here what took me a couple of months to put together on William. Is this info located at a single place or is this a case of traveling between parishs and digging through the vaults?
Thanks for your time and effort.

How did you differentiate the Stephen born 1756 in Charing and the Stephen born 1749 in Bloughton under Blean? It appears on Family Search.org that either of these could reasonably be William's father. Also, I haven't found a way to tell which one married Elizabeth Friend. It looks like little to tell which is which.Easy to see I need to learn some of the tricks of tracking.

Thanks for your help.

I have no idea whether they are the correct parents or not...it was just that they married in the same area as William was baptised

I'm in the same boat. Married and lived in the same area but really not sure. Will have to try to work it backwards from the parents, hope I can find all to work from.
Thanks again for the help.
