Denise Report 3 Sep 2012 10:04

I am searching for my ancestors in Ireland and looking for someone to search the records in the National Library of Ireland in Dublin. I will happily search UK records in return
I know my ancestors came to England in the 1840's and were all born in County Cork, the most specific information I have is for ANN LONG from the 1911 census where it states that she was born in Macroom. She had two brothers.. Timothy (my Gt Gt Grandfather), William and Ellen, and their parents were Daniel and Mary.
Do hope there is someone out there who can help, and look forward to hearing.

Thank you for all of this but my Ann Long and her family were all in England and have been found in Southwark in the 1851 census. Ann was born c1837 in Macroom, William was born c1830, Ellen c1826 and Timothy c1823 although I have no written proof that they were also born in Macroom though I suspect it is likely.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Have never found their father Daniel in England, though mother Mary was in the 1851 census with her son William.

Denise Report 5 Sep 2012 12:41

Thank you Eringobragh 1916........ I recently bought the book Tracing your Irish Ancestors by John Grenham, in which is states that there are Parish Registers at the National Library of Ireland, for Macroom in the Cork North'West Roman Catholic Parish Registers, from 1803. This would cover the period that my Daniel and Mary Long were married and the births of their children Timothy, William, Ellen and Ann. This is why I am looking for someone to search those registers for me. I understand that only personal callers can do this.
There was rumour that they changed their name when they came to England from O'Langan, O'Loughin, or similar, so we would be looking for Timothy c1823, William c1830, Ellen c1826 and Ann c1837 in the birth registers, with parents Daniel and Mary, and a surname either Long or beginning with L. Ann in the only child who has been mentioned as being born in Macroom, as she was still alive in England for the 1911 census.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
