Can anyone please help.I am looking for Emmerson Brown b1825/48 in Gateshead.I believe he had a son John Robert Brown b1864/66.I will be grateful for any information.

Your estimate of his birth year is very wide-ranging.............where did you get your info about the man's name?

With such scant 'info', why do you think he was born in Gateshaed?

None of the census info appears to be relevant, as far as can be deduced.

You haven't really given us any info which could help us to help you, nor have you answered the questions posed in an attempt to do so.

The info was given to me from a distant cousin who was researching her family and knew that i had done a lot of work on my family tree and thought i could help.I looked up births and deaths but was unable to find anything.In the past as a member of Genesreunited I have asked for help on this site and found the info given very helpful.

Your 'cousin' must have a reason for her assumptions.................can't you get her to clarify?

The only way to do genealogy is to work backwards......and get factual info.

Is John Robert her direct line?

Where was he born? Who did he marry?

Has either of you looked for/found him in 1881 census, which is free?

GR members can't look for info without some facts on which to base the searches...............
