Looking for the above, very little knowed. he was from Wales In the army & was in Blandford Camp Dorest 1946/7 Staff sergent ( WO2)
Nick name "the Don" due to, he was something to do with education. Not nessesary, in what was The Education Corps at that time., as most units had their own education section. Have a good photo, if anyone thinks they know off him. any info would be appreciated.
thank you

Hello David - welcome to the boards - highly unlikely that anyone with knowledge of John will see your posting - however, suggest you use "Search" top right hand corner of this page and see if he features in any trees on this site - if you strike lucky you then have the option of contacting the tree owner through Genes Reunited

Goodevening Ann
Thanks for your reply, I am trying all options, but not having much more info on him, unless the trees have details of his Forces period.theres no proof as I don't have an DOB or Forces No .
I know his name is common but there can't be many with his rank in Blandford at that time but Military records are scarce & rules & regs to get round,
Any suggestion appreciated.
Anyway will keep trying
Thanks again
David .

Are you trying to return a photo to his family, or is he a direct relative and deceased?

The DC post 1960ish would record the dob as known by the informant.

Assuming he married, what was his age and father's name? It may be possible to trace his birth.

Try Forces Reunited

Staff Sergeant is NOT a WO2...it is one rank below

A WO2 holds the Sovereign's Warrant

I'm guessing that he is/was your direct relative............with whom you have had no contact........
