Hi,
I'm looking for Clarice Adelaide Cottrell b Liverpool 1906.
In 1935 she married Cuthbert James Harrison Richardson, he died in Southampton in 1969 and was a steward in the merchant navy.
She probabley divorced him as she then married Edward W Belcher in 1955 in Uxbridge, Middlesex.
I have an address for a C.A. Belcher from th 1957 phone book, 22 Widmore Road, Hillingdon Heath, Uxbridge.
I have looked for deaths in both names with no luck.
Can anyone help.

I think the best thing to do is to buy the marriage certificate-google GRO- if not sure how to go about it.
Divorce was possible but not an easy option, even in the 1950's. The phone book entry seems unusual. The directories didn't alway get updated every year and it would be expected that the husbands name would be entered not the wifes. A quick look at freebmd shows a few Edward W Belcher from 1895-1926 and there are deaths for four of them. The marriage cert should have his approximate age which should be a help.-jl
