George is my g grandfather his son William who came out here to New Zealand,
is my grandfather,

all i have on his death is a cwgc certificate ,In memory of deck hand G Smith ,
steam trawler ''Ocana'' ( Grimsby ) mercantile marine who died age 42 on the 23rd dec 1914 husband of mrs l Mooreof 18 arlington st Grimsby. born in Essex.
rememebered with honour Tower Hill Memorial .
seems funny that it has husband of when Lydia was married to a James moore and died as widow of the late J Moore in1948 at the same address :-0,

Yes, I thought it was this one I was looking at yesterday. So it looks like the 1911 posted by BMD is a distinct possibility.

In your original post you have him born possibly Lincolnshire.

When he died, Lydia wasn't married to James but by the time the family information had been submitted to CWGC she was. The additional info is submitted by the families, not from the forces' records. Lots of records have 'formerly' included but yours doesn't seem to.
