Your grandparents marriage cert sounds right as Henry is a government dockyard worker on the 1911 census.

What is Henry's occupation given as on the 1902 certificate and does it give an address for him?

I think the only bit that is wrong is having James as the father.

I have a strange feeling i may have a wrong cert. as on my grandparents marrige cert it states Henry Vincent proffession was Labour HM Dockyard. and was born in Ireland.

on the certificate it has joseph as shoe finisher wittness was Elizabeth mary Ward and william thomas ward !!!!

That's a shame as it would give us something to work back from.

If, as asked above, you could give the occupation of Henry's father Joseph from the marriage certificate then might be able to find something on Irish census.

Also, who were the witnesses?

I dont have a death gate for Henry

FLORENCE MARY VINCENT born 25 Mar 1912 portsmouth Hants died 17 Dec 1958 portsmouth Hants
Married JOHN EDGAR POVER 21 Jan 1933. he was born 26 Sep 1904 Portsmouth died 22 Dec 1965 in Portsmouth Hants

Now on John and Florence marrage cert its got florences father as HENRY VINCENT and a witness at the wedding was Lillian frances Vincent

Hi Steve - I think it's just a coincidence that there was another Mary Duffell, so I'd ignore that Penfold marriage (I guess it was an Ancestry hint?)

If you're 100% sure that the 1911 census and the marriage are right then I'd be checking thoroughly Harry's father.

He doesn't seem to use John on his marriage record or the census so I'd be wary of that baptism.

What was the father Joseph's occupation on the marriage certificate?

Thanks for replying. Marrige took place in Portsea Hants But they both add up. On my tree i have Mary and Harry but the Thomas popped up threw me 10 left lol.

The facts for Harry Vincent all adds up apart from Harrys father as its down as Josepth on cert unless i have got it wrong on my tree
