You could try searching for a marriage here - its an on going project

http://usgwarchives.net/marriages/connecticut/connecticut.htm

If you know her *exact* dob, you could look for anyone called Grace with the same birthday on the SSDI.

Susan, I'll nudge your first thread back up - it's probably best if we continue on that one as it has all the background info there.

*The Social Security Death Records Index (SSDI) includes most deceased individuals who died after 1962 and who also owned a Social Security number. The SSDI lists the deceased's name, their Social Security number (SSN), date of birth, date of death, state where the SSN was issued, ZIP code of the last residence, and ZIP code of where the death benefit was sent.

The Social Security Administration has records in the death index from about 1962 when the reporting process became automated.*

It's available on Ancestry - I thought it was also on familysearch, but can't find a link.

This link gives guidance, and a form to fill in which apparently redirects you to Ancestry

A load of work was done on your previous thread, 4 pages worth! You really shouldn't have started a new thread. Things will be duplicated.

The SSDI is really a pensions file for determining eligibility and when people stop paying in to pensions and they stop paying out, so it notes overseas deaths.

The US operates BMDs pretty much like the UK (except they call the countries states). To find a UK marr, you look it up on the index - not all UK countries have an index published, let alone online. Additionally, in the US, they often have a closure period on marrs, and some states don't treat them as public records.

To actually obtain a marr cert, google cyndislist and look up the state.
