Find Ancestors

According to the 1841 census i have found;
John Loft 1806- married to- Sarah Loft 1811
Living at Flemmingate Plough in Beverley East Yorkshire
Children under same roof, Saah, Henry, Thomas, Frederick and Albert.

I am trying to find out the maiden name of Sarah, who apparently is Irish, where in Ireland she was from, and in what circumstances she came here, oh, and when she married John.

I think a competeing website may have been better to find things out but i have paid now so too late, so as always, i thank you for any info you may be able to supply. All the info i have found is on the 1841 census

No sign of either of them in 1881, but deaths registered in Beverley. Sorry, but none of the original census returns gave anything other than Ireland - they sometimes put a county.but not in this case

I cant send for the birth certificate hough because i dont have the maiden name, so looks like a dead end. Thanks everyone, but i have seen most of what you have kindley told me. That does seem weird how in 1851 she shows as been born in Beverley. How could this be? Just when you ge to an interesting bit (ireland) i am stuck. Sorry, im with you now, send for amy's birth certificate for sarahs maiden name. derrrr, im a bit slow today.

There's a few trees on Ancestry, where they have John born 5/12/1801 son of Samuel Loft and Jane Taylor - they also have the marriage down as Sarah Anderson in 1825. None of the trees have any ancestry for Sarah - just recorded as born Ireland c1808.

Probate granted 24/6/1878 to son Thomas (a painter) and John Ridley (shoemaker) personal estate valued at under £20. States John was a shoemaker, he died 9/5/1878.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Beverley POB. On one census my grandfather has his POB as Portsmouth but he was born in London. He had just left the navy so, probably, when he was asked where he came from he said Portsmouth as that was were he had been discharged. Had he been asked where he was born he would have said London. It all depends on which question was asked.

Amy's husband was also born in Ireland - could be he and Sarah were related:

Father of Jasper on marriage record to Amy Jane states his dad as William Frederick Anderson a surveyor,one witness was Margaret Anderson.

Interesting that on
1841 census St Martin D26> 3 John Anderson 1766 and Ann 1771.Both down as born in Yorkshire!
