Possible birth a bit earlier than you thought:-

Name: BRAMMER, Joseph
Registration district: Wolstanton
County: Staffordshire
Year of registration: 1874
Quarter of registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Mother's maiden name: Not available before 1911 Q3
Volume no: 6B
Page no: 137

You would need to buy the marriage certificate to get his father's name to confirm whether this is the right person.

Angela....
The Census (1901)above for Mary Ann shows the surname McCann...(Michael and Brid)

There is another Mary Ann b same year to a Patrick and Mary...(Co Galway)

I am inclined to think its going to be that family...try to check out 1891/'1901 for McGann ......Tunstall S.o.T

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 26 Aug 2012 16:55

I went for the Mary who is transcribed as McCann only because it is in the same registration district as Joseph lived and also where the marriage took place.

You would need the marriage certificate to get her father's name to be certain though.

Thank you., Kath.
The 1901 confirms Mary Ann Mc Gann, age and Tunstall. ( on the 19 11 census which we feel is definitely the family.0
I had found this and then wasn't sure til your discussion- I'm running with this just now. I'll check out Thomas Patrick. My sister remembers there was an Irish connection
Many thanks.

Yes. I can see that we'll need to invest in some certificates. Let you know what they confirm .
Do you belong to any other helpful internet sites or is Genes reunited enough once you have the certificates form the National Archives?

Buy the certificates from the GRO (you can order online with the full GRO reference which is given above). I find it's the best place to buy them.

There are other sites similar to Genes with message boards (will send a pm giving them). I use Findmypast rather than Genes for searches.
