That would have made him 14yrs. that seems really young. dont suppose there is a way of knowing for certain. |

Thanks everyone. I didnt realise that he was in New Zealand when he enlisted. perhaps i should check passenger lists to see when he went there. |

Hello, I have a relation on my tree called Joseph Morton, born Liverpool 1897 to Benjamin and Annie Morton. I have looked on the commonwealth wargraves website and have found a death for him in WW1. it states he was with the New Zealand expeditionery Force. i have looked on Ancestry and found his war documents for when he enlisted and at the top it says 'foreign service'......can anyone suggest why he would have been selected for the foreign service and where i could obtain his war record from and how much it would cost. |
