Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me find Charles Griffin and family in 1841 -

Charles Griffin b 1799 Islington, London

Wife Harriet nee Hogg b 1802 Albury, Surrey

By 1841 they had 5 children - Alexander Charles 1826 b in Wales, Helen 1829 b in Windlesham, Surrey, Louisa 1831 b in Bagshott, Surrey, George Edward 1835 b in Chatham, Kent and William 1839 b Chatham, Kent.

Charles was an Excise officer and the family moved around the country I suppose wherever his job took him. I cant find any of them in 1841

. In 1851 Charles is with Harriet and 3 children in Edgbaston, Warwickshire and in 1861

In 1871 Charles is with Harriet in Knowle, Warwickshire and 1881 in Kings Norton , Worcestershire. He died in 1882

I just cant find them in 1841 - I tried Scotland and Wales but still nothing - I would be very grateful for any help - its driving me nuts!

Also if anyone can find William 1839 after 1861 that would be great.

Yes thanks these are all correct from what I can see - interestingly in 1841 there is another daughter Harriet who we didnt know about and with William he has a nephew Charles Griffin who must be the son of brother George William as other brother emigrated to Australia in 1855

Update on my Griffin Family.

I wonder if someone with access to Canadian records can help me find CHARLES GRIFFIN. BORN CANADA 1870.

I haven't got much to go on and I can only assume his parents names. He was in Kings Norton, Worcestershire, England in 1891 with his uncle William Griffin . On the record it shows his place of birth as Canada British Subject. He occupation was blacksmith. I don't know when he arrived in the uk or if he returned to Canada after 1891.

Uncle William Griffin had 2 brothers - Alexander Charles Griffin b in Wales who emigrated to Australia in 1855 with his wife Julia Livermore and their 2 children and stayed there until his death in 1905.

His other brother was George Edward Griffin b in Chatham, Kent, England in 1835 and he married Elizabeth Cotterrell in 1865 in Knowle, Warwickshire. I cant find any records for them after their marriage so maybe they emigrated to Canada and Charles is their son.

Help with this would be much appreciated
