Dear Ann and Marie.
Thanks so much for all your trouble in researching for me. The ship George arriving in Canada is very interesting and I will try to find out more. It is recorded on a legal document that in 1842 John Henry skoby scobie first mate, left Liverpool on the ship "George" the ship is one of 2 listed on Lloyds register as being possible candidates .
The ship George registered in Fife, I don't think this can be the one.
Thank you all again for looking by and helping me .
Martin.

Dear Ann . Thank you for all the info allot of it is quite new and more detailed than what I have heard before now . However it was the hope of finding info on the loss of John scobie skoby Scalby. during the voyage on the ship the " George of Dundee " that prompted my question . It is very difficult to find crew lists.

Good afternoon all Hope you can help.
My gggdad John bowman scobie or may be skoby? born 1804 son of Francis Skoby and Sharah Boardman bowman? He was first mate in the merchant marine, and set off on a voyage to Mobile? in 1842 . He never retuned to his wife and family leaving them destitute. Lost overboard ? desiese? jumped ship? Can''t find any more info' They all lived in Toxteth but originated in Driffield. I have found 2 ships that may fit in, they are both called George, home port Dundee.
1. captain G Pike, owner Fyfe and co, voyage 1841-1842 lth s. Australia. (this may be Leith) lon nzealand (short for London new Zealand?)

2. captain D Kidd, owner is J Thain. voyage 1841-1842 Dundee -Archangel
I have tried looking for crew lists on national archives but no joy.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks for looking by.
