Wowsers, that's some good info.

Firstly I don't think I meant his mother...I meant the wife that was listed in theweld.org lists. And that's exactly the same as the one you kindly listed (all saints, Lewes) which is also on the familyseach site.

I know first wife Emma was alive in 1871 (census) and there is a likely death cert for 1877 which would tie-in with a 1871 marriage for Alice being born in 1879.

I don't know the date of marriage but good tip, with the marriage cert...you know how it is: sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees!

Those registers for George and Henry look v interesting...I'll do some more digging around those. Also the Elizabeth Rice connection...all very much appreciated.

Thank you

Paul

Hi everyone.

Your help please: am trying to find the parents of this chap. Married to Emma of Penzance, Cornwall. His children were:

Henry, b. St Pancras 1833
George b. St Giles or Lambeth (census descepancies) 1839
Richard b. Brighton 1850
Emma b. Brighton 1855
Alice b. Brighton 1879 (of Elizabeth, Richard's 2nd wife).

But blimey, I cannt find anything about Richard senior APART from he worked on the railways in Brighton as a Bolier Maker and he can be found in the 1851-91 censuses.

I know there is a Richard, b. 1811 in Lewes to George Hemsley but the mother doesn't fit.

Any help gratefully received.

Cheers,
Paul
