Robery taylor did have a son born in February 1871.
This could also answere who Robert went to USA/Canada with.
Charles T Routh.

There's a baptism of a son of Robert Tayor Routh and wife Elizabeth here. Would this be a son of your R.T. Routh? The sponsors were Charles T. Routh and Maggie R. Routh.

Yes Robert did end up in Canada and did quite well for himself. he was only 14yrs old when he sailed to USA. I wondered if he went alone, and if so did he have family in USA/canada. Would a 14yr old be allowed to go alone??
I could find no other Routh on the passenger list.

Robery Taylor Routh born in Hemingbrough Yorkshire England, went to USA on the Garrick arriving in New York on sept 16th 1840. he was 14yrs old. I cant find a record of any other Routh on the same boat. Can anybody help me, Did he go alone. Did he go with some one else - did he have family in USA . Could this family member be Thomas his brother. Born May 31st 1817.
