Hi
I've traced my 3x great grandfather, David Appleton, born in 1794, with several options for his parents.
It's proving a big bug bear because I am just not certain.
He was born in Devonport and was in Greenwich at a young age, met his wife, Mary Ann Munyard, and married at St Alfege Church.
David was connected to the Royal Navy and seemed to have been at sea at some point.
He then became a clerk at Somerset House for the Navy, working in Greenwich and Devonport and living in the Torquay area of Devon. I'm tearing my hair out so I do hope someone can help :-S

Thank you so much safc and Freda.
I had got most of the facts that you tell me which is so reassuring because I took a gamble on David and Mary Grigg because of name combination in one family member.
So now I'm after David snr and before - was he also a Navy person? Might explain the lack of the usual easiness of tracing families?
I appreciate such early responses - thank you....
