Just been told by another family member that they have a family bible which lists all the dates of birth for the children of Richard and Jane which has been helpful. It doesn't list an Edith, only an Ellen so I think we can safely say that Edith and Ellen were the same person. So I have details for her. Now down to locating a death record for Mary/May.

Found this:
Births Sep 1890 (>99%)

Hall May Wallingford 2c 295

What do you think? May rather than Mary?

Just had a look at the 1911 census for their parents Richard and Jane and it states on there that they had 10 children, 1 of which had died by 1911 - now I have 11 children for them (including Edith) so perhaps Edith and Ethel were the same person and that would leave me with 10 children for them, matching what it says on the 1911 census. But that would mean than one child died before 1911 - I have the death dates for all the others except Mary (and Edith but perhaps can discount her if she is the same person as Ethel) but cannot find any deathes in Berkshire or Oxfordshire for a Mary Hall between 1901 and 1911 that could be her age wise. But as I haven't found her birth record, I wonder whether Mary was a middle name.

I've checked FreeBMD for Edith's birth but nothing comes up - she has a sister called Ethel Jane Hall also born Buckland 1885. I'm wondering whether they are one and the same person as I haven't found Ethel Jane on the census returns before she married. She married Albert Arthur Sarney in Wargrave, Berkshire 1910. She died in 1916 in Reading, Berkshire.

As for Mary, I've checked FreeBMDs for marriages but there are a lot of them and she could have married in Berkshire, Oxfordshire or London anytime after 1911.

I haven't checked the trees on here but my tree is on here and it hasn't come up with any matches (other than ones I have already had contact with - they also have the same information as me).

Hi Sarah - have you done the usual checks on FreeBMD for potential marriages and used the Search function above to see if they are in anyone else's trees?

Also, do you have exact birth dates? Can be useful when searching for names that aren't unusual.

I am looking for Edith Hall born to Richard Hall and Jane Bratchell in 1885 in Buckland, Berkshire. She is living at home in Ipsden, Oxfordshire in 1891, living in Harwell, Berkshire as a servant for Catherine Day in 1901 but then she disappears. Not sure whether she married or not (my nan recalls that she didn't but could be wrong). Cannot find her on the census in 1911.

Also her sister Mary Hall, born Watefield, Oxfordshire in 1890. I have her on all the census returns, finally living in Hampstead, London in 1911 but then I don't know where she went - whether she married or died.

I have managed to find out about their brothers and sisters but these two are a bit alusive. I have a group photo of the Hall family and have been able to work out who the ohers are in the photo but one lady and I'm trying to work out which of the two above it could be - I'm thinking it's more likely to be Ethel as she was more local but I don't know. The photo was taken around 1925.

any help in locating these two sisters would be great. Thanks in advance.
