Thanks for that wonderful link which is new to me. I was so interested to note that the transporting of the malt went through Huntingdon so maybe that explains how my George came to move there. |

Obviously not promising anything will turn up. but I can have a look as I'll be there, easy to add it to the list of names I have to look for and check out. |

Thanks that would be so kind of you. I know that my George Frederick Clare moved to Hunts. so its his possible parents I'm after. They may be Daniel and Susannah I think they would be born about 1768 and died by the 1830s.Daniel was a maltster if that helps.I know I'm clutching at straws but can't be certain enough to go further backwards otherwise. |

Yes thanks Janet I've ordered all the relevant info up to now from them and spoke to one of their staff about this who said I may have to leave it up in the air without proof but I thought a grave may be a useful tool. |

I have people who came from there (Norton End) - and there seem to be loads of people with same / similar / combinations of first and last names in the Baldock area. Wouldn't be surprised if there were two families of Clare |

I used to live near Baldock (Its a lot bigger than a village now) and have since found one side of my family came from there....shame I did'nt know at the time...doubt whether they could have afforded a grave stone anyway to be honest |

Thanks both of you for the info. What I'm trying to sort out is to confirm the parents of my George Frederick Clare born 1816.On his marriage cert his father is Daniel a maltster but other people doing this tree have cast doubt on who his mother was. |

Does anyone live near the cemetery in Norton Road Baldock? I have traced my family back to this village and wondered if any of them are buried there. The name is Clare but I have just got a possible baptism record from Herts archives which shows that the name may also be transcribed as Clear.--this was 1812. |
