Find Ancestors

I am trying to trace more information on Augusta NOTT who I have found in the 1841 Census St Margaret Westminster Middlesex listed as living with Thomas NOTT B1801 Surveyor and Catherine NOTT B1802 - all not born in County, I am assuming that Augusta was the daughter. I have the marriage of Thomas Freeman Nott to Catherine Elizabeth Peters 12 June 1826 Surrey. I found a possible death at Lambeth in 1847. I cannot find her birth in 1827 or around that date.

Have you found her in later cenus? where does she say she was born?

maybe not wise to assume. 1841 ages were rounded, so this could well be augusta ...or not

Thanks for your quick response. The spelling in the 1841 Census is actually Agusta and her age on the original is 14. Of course she may not be the daughter of Thomas Nott but could be a relative staying there. The 3 of them are listed as not being born in county. Being born between say 1824 - 1830 she would probably have been married - a good chance of it. If this is the Thomas Nott -my relative he came to Australia with Mildred Amelia BROOKS and arrived prior to 1851 Census in England. Some researchers say Augusta was his daughter by his first marriage but I am unable to find Catherine or Augusta's death.

Have checked original 1851 census and it is definately the same family as 1841 census, as Head of household's occupation is (Agent) and address is 18 Church Street.

I have been looking at this - do you think that 'your' Augusta may have had an illigitimate child and died very soon after ?
