Good morning Jill......just for a lark I looked on Family Search for Whysall in Birmingham..and there are some!!...then it went crazy and gave the variations that make me understand your problem!!.....anything from Wiseowl to Whistle!!

None of mine seem to have gone further east than Birmingham Derek. And I've never seen them use that variation - but it's a spelling for me to keep in mind :-)

J....but they are all in the East Midlands!!,,can't vouch for your neck of the woods!!
Whysall i mean.

Sigh of relief for that Derek. I have enough variations of Wassall to occupy me already without needing another one :-D

David if I ever come across a Whysall, I'll make a note and let you know.

From my extensive researches...your Whysalls are all Whysalls, and seem by and large to have avoided the most obscure variations and mis transcriptions.

Hi David,

Not that I know of any connection to the East Midlands keep the spellings Wassall/Wassell/Wasal etc in mind when you need some surname variations.

David...........SAMUEL WHYSALL married ANN STREET 13.06.1831 at Duffield..a parish which covers most of that part of Derbyshire including Heanor and Belper.....Pentrich was at one time a Chapelry within the Parish of Duffield before it became a parish in its own right.
(I know the Whysalls very well though previus researches.)

Thanks for this information. It looks likely that these people are who I am looking for. I know Whysall is yet another derivative of the later Wiseall as I have come across it before
Thanks again

I am trying to my maternal grandmothers line & have come to a halt with Samuel Wiseall (Wenall, Winhall may be alternative spellings) I know he was born in 1809/10 in Derbyshire & married Anne Street? but cannot find any record of him earlier than 1841. Any information would be appreciated
Thanks
