Hi Paul,
Your best bet would be to buy a copy of the birth certificate, then you'd know for sure who his mother is.

You'll need the reference and quarter shown below.

Births Sep 1931
Leicester 7a 371

Order from
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Cost is £9-25 and it takes about a week to come.

thanks, we dont actually know anything about him but its possible hes an illegitimate child of my wifes grandma...

Hello Paul, if he was born 1931 there's a chance he's still alive. Death records on-line only go up to 2006 so if he had died more recently we wouldn't be able to find it on our usual sites (but someone else may be able to advise).

Do you know for definite that he married?

Can anyone help with DAVID H RAINER b1931 Leicester? I cant find a marriage or death record. His mothers maiden name is RAINER.
