My granddad signed on with the Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders in about 1902. ( I have a photo of him in full dress uniform.)

We were told that he was underage and his step father had him released because of this. Is there anywhere I can contact to get info on this please?

There is this website Kay

Maybe if you drop them an email they might be able to help

:-)

Some service records for the timescale you mention are on Find my Past, if you dont subscribe to fmp, if you give a name it can be looked at to check if he is listed.

I had the same situation with one of mine, he served for 44 days only but i found a record for him.

Hi Donna

I often scroll through 'find ancestors' to see if any names jump out. The Argyll and Sutherlands did. Thanks to your reply I have now started the ball rolling to find details of my father's service.

Many thanks.
