1891 england census look up

good afternoon
i was wondering if someone could take a look at the 1891 england census for charles davis 1874 born kennington , occupation, i cant decide if it says painters apprentice or printers apprentice

I thought that the subsequent census' might give a clue.

Interesting.

I agree with Gins that it looks like painter apprentice but

In 1901 he is shown as Printers Compositor.

In 1911 Compositor Linotype Operator

Maybe he did actually change or maybe it's the enumerator's writing with a poorly presented 'r' in his script. Open to interpretation given his subsequent census entries.

thats why i couldnt decide , i thought it may have been the writing as the a and r look similar, i have been down the wrong road twice with him, he was my great grandfather and was a printers compositor.
