AQlso it gives a baptism date of 26th April 1840 (no citation though)

If you wish to find out who his father was, the details will be on Arthur's marriage cert - assuming he knew them

That's it then.....looks like it wasn't registered.

I'm not seeing a birth that looks like his under any of the name variants (perhaps someone else can?)

Bear in mind that until around 1874 there was no pressure on parents to register the births of children, so many didn't bother and hence there are no records to be found.

can any one help please,i have been on here before and got some great help. i need to order a birth certificate in the name of Arthur Curbishley born in 1840 on 1881 census lived at 22 bamforth street sheffield,he is said to have been born in Darfield but also been told Sheffield. can any one please find the vol number and page number please so i can order a certificate.
When he married Emily Bagshaw in 1862 his name was spelt Arthur Curbesley vol 9c page 410.
also can anyone give me the website please so i can order a certificate thanks.
