Agnes Smith born Berwick upon Tweed around 1800

LDS have possible births for Agnes Smith born in Berwick upon Tweed between 1798 and 1808
1. baptised 27 jan 1805 parents Colvil & Elizabeth Smith
2. baptised 14 Apr 1799 parents James & Isbel Smith
3. baptised 5 may 1807 parents Hugh & Margaret Smith
all from non-conformist record indexes
the problem is that i cannot then find her on Ancestry or Genes Reunited for births or marriages to obtain more information.
my Agnes Smith married a William Lovell around 1806 and then lived in St Pancras where they had John Colville Smith Lovell born 1829, Harriet Lovell born 1832, James Smith Lovell born 1835. also a William Lovell born around 1827, i think to a previous wife.
any help, ideas would be greatly appreciated as i have been stuck on this for quite a while. perhaps you may know of another Agnes Smith that i have not included.

I'm thinking the marriage date is wrong!

The 1805 baptism is child of COLVIL and Elizabeth SMITH. Agnes had a child John COLVILL SMITH Lovell .............

Oh dear, Lynn - you should really have added this to your existing thread on the same family:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1307844

For future ref, what you need to do is use the "My Threads" link down the left hand side and then find your thread about a family. Even if it's old you can still add a new request to it. You can always edit the title to show it's an update request (You just go to your first post and click Edit then you can get to the title).

It may be better if we continue on here as if we fetch the old thread up people may post on both and we'll get in a mess.

Given that the names Ann and Agnes can be interchangeable, I wonder if this could be their marriage?

London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921
Name: William Lovell
Spouse Name: Ann Smith
Record Type: Marriage
Event Date: 22 Nov 1826
Parish: Westminster St Martin in the Fields
Borough: Westminster
Register Type: Bishop's Transcript

EDIT: Oops - this was on the other thread, confirms that 1806 should have said 1826.

thanks marieceleste and sorry folks, i thought this was a new enquiry. i am quite confused with the use of the message board, even though i have read what genes reunited say about its use. i assume from this information from marie celeste that if its about the same family i just add it to an existing thread. will try that in future. can understand now that can lead to kind helpers duplicating previous efforts on my behalf.
yes the marriage should say 1826. i know lots about the children, just trying to find out more about the parents, thanks

contacted someone to share their tree as genes reunited said we shared this relative and great result, now know which agnes smith is my relative and have further information about my family. it's the one born april 1799 to james and isabella (isbel). anything else i will add to the previous thread.

Lynn, just a word of caution - how do you know that the info on that other person's tree is correct?

It's the fact that there was an Agnes with a father named Colvill which was the name passed to your Agnes' son as a middle name (I mentioned that above). That Agnes was baptised 1805 but may have been born some years earlier - late baptisms weren't uncommon.

Would be interesting to see what the others think ......

As regards postings - we all learn as we go on here!

thanks marieceleste, i agree with what you say and have discovered that Colville is a fairly common first name. but i have in fact checked this all out and it all fits. i never add anything to my tree without doing this. i made a mistake once from my own research with a marriage, added it to my tree and later found out i was wrong and deleted it, but wondered if anyone poor person had copied it off my tree without checking.
on reflection i was 100% sure about these latest additions, but perhaps i just wanted it to be right, so i will go back and check it all out again to be 101% sure.

thanks for your concern. lynn

Hi Lynn - it's just that I've slipped up the same way myself!

here is my evidence for assuming the family tree connections from kind GR person's tree are my family:-
*1841 & 1851 census show William Lovell (b Somerset between 1801/1806) & Agnes (born Berwick upon Tweed 1799) in St Pancras. 1841 census has children son John Colville Smith Lovel (b 1829), daughter Harriet Lovell (b 1832), son James Smith Lovell (1836). i understand it was not unusual in the north to include the wife's surname in the children's names, so hence i was already thinking perhaps AGNES SMITH. the Smith is included in their baptisms, so the connection is more the Smith than the Colville.
*1851 census shows a 4th child with them, William Lovell (b approx 1827) occupation is tailor). a william lovell, age 14 is on 1841 census in Berwick upon Tweed with James & Isabella Smith's family and their 2 remaining children at home, one being Colville Smith. he is an apprentice tailor. connection here is Berwick upon Tweed and occupation. both James & son Colville Smith are tailors.
*kind persons family tree shows Agnes Smith (b1799) as one of 10 children with the above parents of James Smith & Isabella Weatherhead, so Colville Smith would be her brother. all children were baptised in Berwick upon Tweed in non-conformist Scotch hall.
*For me this all came together. but if you or anyone else can see any flaws in it i would be grateful to know. there are some questions remaining, but these remain the same regardless of the above. i will put them in a separate message.

i forgot to add a 3rd reason. the daughter Harriet Lovell, married William Gibson in Berwick upon Tweed (1854), and at her wedding were a Mrs Smith and a Mr C Smith (info in family bible - unfortunately nothing in bible before this). Also William Gibson was on the council with Colville Smith, so they would have known each other. bit more tenuous, but i think further evidence of a connection.
