Find Ancestors

Alfred Davis and Elizabeth Mary Halliday were married in June 1858 in St Austell,Cornwall even though they were both from Gloucestershire.These were my maternal great great grandparents and by 1860 they had emigrated to Australia,specifically Wallaroo which I think is in the state of Victoria.However,by 1872 Elizabeth had returned to Sheepscombe in Gloucestershire with their three surviving children but no sign of Alfred.According to their sons marriage certificate,Alfred was a proprietor of a gold mine. I have been unable to find any information on Alfred Davis in Australia - whether he and Elizabeth had divorced or not as she later remarried in Sheepscombe. Can anyone recommend where to look for information ? Many thanks

Is Elizabeth in England in 1871... What is her status?
I have found what looks to be a daughter ,Mary, 9,staying with a George FARRELL and shown as a niece.
This might be his marriage..??

He may have been dec'd when the son married but maybe that question was not asked

The death reference would fit with Elizabeth showing as married in 1871 when she is at the home of her mother, Patience HALLIDAY.

Just a bit more on Jax' death of Alfred, he was born in Wales parents unknown.

Wallaroo is in the State of Sth. Australia, not Victoria

For the last week the Sth. Australian research site has been unavailable to view records, they have said it should be available at the end of today. Here's hoping.

There is also a number of threads posted in the last few days by William regarding this family, any connection?

I know they are all over the place but it seems too much of a coincidence not to be connected. The parents of John Alfred have the same names as Alfred parents, could he have thought he had to give his parents names not his and Elizabeths names?

As you have deleted your thread with the most information on it, I do not have any ideas as to what his parents names might be. That is why I asked you to delete the other one.

According to his marriage record Alfreds fathers name was Thomas Davis. Not entirely sure of his mothers name although it could be Mary Ann ?
