Can anyone help me please. I am trying to find a marriage for Dorothy M. INGRAM (born.1913 in Fulham, London). I can see she might POSSIBLY have married a William H. Shepherd in 1931, but am wondering if there are any records at this time which would make the match clearer, maybe showing the father of the bride's name, i.e. Arthur William INGRAM. |

The parish records arent online/ you would need to buy the marriage cert to see if its the right lady |

Thanks to you both. I only know Dorothy was born Dorothy M. Ingram, parents Arthur William Ingram and Rose Chalk. I have tried each method I can to find either the husband by looking at all the deaths in Devon area, based on the fact that he was probably around 34-42 years told and then matching his name up to her and seeing if there were any children, but nothing positive. Its a shame as my aunt definately met her in 1947 and by that time Dorothy's daughter was about 3 or 4 and she thinks the husband who was a major in the army had died by then, and definately in the Devon area, just outside Bideford. I will try writing to the local newspaper there to see if they have any stories in the archives of the tragic accident. I was sure that it was the marriage to William Shepherd in 1931 and son Michael in 1938, but my Aunt says they definately had one daughter only and NO son, so consequently I dont think I have the right one! |

Many thanks Pam, you are so helpful. I will have a look to see if this is the right one, but its definately a possibility. Of course her daughter might well have been born and registered in the Army Birth records and that might be why I cant find it. |

My advice would be to get her birth cert. If she died 1970-2006 her first names and DOB can be used to search. |

Thanks Jan, I will give that a try. I could also try to get the death certificate of her parents, which might well give 'next of kin' and I know when they died, so I will go down that avenue next. Many thanks for everything. Gabriella |
