I will try and explain clearly :-)
These are another branch of my DILs travelling family.
Oliver AYRES was baptised at Selborne Hampshire 22 Sept 1823 s George AYRES & Rosa (PIKE) travellers-he was baptised as PIKE
George and Rosa(nna) had a large family and I have them in the 1851 census (Ayres) they married in 1853.
I cannot find any trace of Oliver-Ayres/Airs//Eyres (or Pike or Read) etc in any census until 1891 when he is camped with his daughter Sabina (Pidgley) at Talbot Woods (Bournemouth) He is Oliver AIRS -wid-age 65-he died in 1895 age 66
His partner was Jane READ/REID (no formal marriage found) and I have found baptisms for 2 children Nehemiah in 1850 at Whitchurch (Hants) and Oliver-1859 at Minstead (Hants)
A Tree on A******y has other children - Eliza(1850 who started this as she married a Jeff ! ) and Dorcas 1855 and Louisa 1860 and Sabina 1864 but there are no sources
I know the travellers dodged the census' and used different names, but usually they turn up somewhere at some time !
Any ideas ?
Elizabeth
