Lynn

Just to add........the address for 1881 doesnt give a house number, the '7' is the schedule number, not the house number

:-)

Neither my husband or I can decipher the job description of my great-great-grandfather on the 1881 census.

He was "SOMETHING at colliery"

If you have sharper eyes/more experience of deciphering census returns can you take a look at ....

1881 census return for
William Bell
7 Try Em All Street
Burnhope & Hamsteels, Durham

(lived with wife Jane Bell and children Henry, George, Hannah, Phillipson, Francis and William).

Much appreciated!
