I wouldn't ignore George - it could well be his name & he chose not to use it. Not all births were rego'ed by the parents. In my mum's family, the 2 eldest girls were named after their grans, and each was rego'ed by that gran. I could easily imagine the paternal gran using her son's full name, even if he didn't like using it. Course, I could be way off base.

What can I say to all of you but a thankyou for all your time and effort. To update you....
I contacted salford record office who have been ultra quick this morning via email and the children sarah, florence , edna and edith are a match with the parents :-D (only anomaly is it says sarahs father is George William Ward rather than William Ward so should I ignore this one or not? all the other children it says william
Because of the children's births above (census record) I now know that Elizabeth's parents William Ward c1883-4 and Elizabeth c1884 (formerly Riding) were alive after the birth of their last child edith in 1923, I am beginning to look for ....
a) their death certificates/entries now- any help appreciated.(likely salford area)
b) to track this couple William and Elizabeth in the 1911 census - again any help appreciated. (likely salford area). Do you think I should search for george williams wards as well because of the anamaly with sarah's birth?
I was interested to see if there were any other siblings of elizabeth 1908 which died within these periods and there were 3-4 possibles but without getting the death cert I guess I cant be sure they are related because you cant see a mother's maiden name and beside she would be married by then. If I am wrong here then please put me straight. :-)
I have sent off an enquiry to GRO re possible birth dates mentioned above in 1884 for elizabeth Riding 1884 birth (entry chorlton/salford/manchester) i await response.

havent seen ward - riding name combination before so will check this out
Will check out census record - would need to find a link with the name ward and
surname George to verify if there is a link to my family or.not
I have looked at my old files and the marriage you have is correct (dec 5th 1905) William and Elizabeth were both residing in church street (10 and 6) when they married. age william b1884 and elizabeth b1883, Father ofwilliam is george James ward who is deceased (occupation fitter and turner) but I want to concentrate on finding elizabeth in 1911 for now

Hello Lynn - when and where were William Ward and Elizabeth Riding born?
Have you looked for deaths for them?
Do you know when they married (just to guess if there may have been older siblings)

Need help locating Elizabeth Ward in 1911 census.
From her birth cert she is born 9th feb 1908 at 8 hazel street, Salford. The year is verified by her death cert as well.
Her parents are William Ward (occupation metal Plainer) and Elizabeth (formerly Riding).
I have searched the address in 1911 and find random elizabeths with no parent connection. I know of no other siblings and am starting think that maybe her parents died before 1911 census.
If you can help please :-D
