	My father has had a visit from a long lost cousin who brought a sack load of photographs with her. One was of their grandfather in a police uniform (maybe met) circa ww1 era. No-one seemed to realise he'd been a policeman, was it something that people were called up to during ww1? He would have been 36 at the outbreak of war.

	I have no idea when he was a policeman. WW1 is a guess. It would seem some 31,000 special constables were sworn in during the first year of war.

	1966. Looking at images on google I'm not sure that it's not 10 to 15 years earlier. It may not even be a special constable. Where can I find a uniforms expert ?!?!?

	I'll check obits on library website tomorrow. Good thought Janice. He was a councillor in Tottenham so it may indeed appear in a newspaper of the day. Thanks for your time people.
