thanks so much! can you tell me the status of the rest? obviously george is the head with elizabeth his wife, it looks like jane could be betsy's mother? does she have m or um against her name. also on the 1871 betsy is put as daughter in law, trying to work out what that means to the relationship of the head of the house? betsy married in nz in 1877. just thought it could be that emma is her mother so could please check previous census to see if george and elizabeth had a daughter emma many thanks for this

Both Emma and jane are daugthers of George and Elizabeth. See 1851 census posted. Jane is unmarried on 1861 census.

thanks so much it looks like betsy was illegitimate so will probly never find out her father's name. she named one of her sons rickel so that was a good connection to have!
